Gambia Coach unhappy over criticism by local media

Tom Saintfiet, Head Coach of Gambia’s National team has expressed dissatisfaction over criticism by some Journalists following his side’s abysmal performance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Gambia Scorpions are yet to win a game in the competition, having lost to Cameroon and Guinea respectively. 

He said the reports by the local media was channeled towards influencing the mindset of fans, players, and some individuals in order to get rid of him.

“When we win you are happy but when we lose, I am the worst coach in the history of the Gambia.

When I defend we win matches you celebrate but when I attack and we concede a lot of goals I am the worst coach”, he said.

According to him, the team had seen massive transformation under his leadership, helping them to secure their maiden AFCON appearance.

” You people think that we can beat everyone, you think we cannot be beaten”

The giants would face Cameroon in their final group game to round up their campaign.
