Ghana head coach Otto Addo is expected to name his squad in the coming days for the Black Stars’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in September.

The four-time African champions currently sit at the top of Group I with 15 points after six games, and will be aiming to extend their lead as the qualifying campaign reaches its decisive stage.

Ghana will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Wednesday, 4 September, before returning to Accra to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 8 September.

The fixtures come at a critical time, with the Black Stars enjoying back-to-back victories in March that boosted their qualification hopes. Goalkeepers’ trainer Fatau Dauda has already admitted the games will be tough, but insists the team is ready to secure maximum points.

The announcement of Addo’s squad is expected to generate considerable debate, particularly surrounding the availability of key players such as Thomas Partey, who is currently dealing with legal issues in the United Kingdom, and other Europe-based stars returning from injury.

With Ghana seeking a fifth World Cup appearance, Addo’s selections will be closely scrutinised as the Black Stars look to maintain their momentum and edge closer to a place at the global showpiece in 2026.
