Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August following a standout display for AFC Bournemouth.

The Black Stars forward played a crucial role for the Cherries throughout the month, contributing two goals and providing an assist in three appearances for the club.

Semenyo scored a brace against giants Liverpool in their Premier League opener, held at Anfield despite the side succumbing to a late 4-2 defeat before assisting his outfits’ narrow victory over Wolves in matchday two.

Following a flying start to the 2025/26 campaign, the enterprising Ghanaian attacker has been nominated for the top award.

The Ghana international faces a stern competition from Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Liverpool duo of Hugo Ekitike, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace to clinch the award.

Other players competing for the top award include, Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, Jack Grealish of Everton and Ricardo Calafiori, who plies his trade for Arsenal.

Semenyo is currently with the Black Stars team ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Chad and Mali.

The West African powerhouse will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno at 1 pm on Thursday, September 4 before hosting Mali in a crunch clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
