The Ghana Wrestling Association has once again made the nation proud, following a stellar performance at the President Ouattara Wrestling Tournament held in Côte d’Ivoire from 21st to 25th August 2025.

Team Ghana, represented by just three wrestlers, defied the odds to clinch an impressive four medals – one gold, two silver, and one bronze – against strong competition from across the sub-region.

The wrestlers expressed their excitement and gratitude after their remarkable achievement, describing the experience as both challenging and rewarding. “We went there determined to raise the Ghana flag high, and to return with medals for our country is a dream come true,” one of the athletes said with joy.

President of the Ghana Wrestling Federation, Mr. Norbert Amefu, commended the team for their outstanding display. He remarked: “This is a historic moment for Ghana wrestling. To present only three athletes and come back with four medals is simply extraordinary. It proves the talent and resilience of our wrestlers, and we are committed to giving them the best support to achieve even greater things for Ghana.”

Management of the Association also praised the athletes for their dedication, discipline, and fighting spirit. According to officials, this victory highlights the growing strength of wrestling in Ghana and is a testament to the hard work being put in behind the scenes.

The wrestlers and their coaches returned home beaming with pride, with fans and stakeholders hailing their triumph as another milestone in Ghana’s sporting history.
