Ghanaian Athletes based in the US strives in the indoor games ahead of African Games in Ghana.

Ghanaian collegiate athletes in the United States kicked off their indoor track and field season with impressive performances during the weekend at the Stan Scott Memorial meet in Lubbock, Texas and other venues in the States. Here are the notable achievements:

 

Deborah Acheampong made a strong start to her 2024 season by achieving a personal best (PB) of 7.54 seconds in her 60m heat.

 

Grace Obour competed in the 400m and secured a commendable 4th place finish, crossing the line in 55.85 seconds.

 

Sarah Koomson dominated the 1-mile race, clinching the 1st position with an impressive time of 4:59.40 (OR).

 

Pearl Awanya delivered an exceptional performance, completing the 600y in a noteworthy time of 1:22.98 (PR & Facility Record).

 

Blessing Samuel exhibited great skill in the Long jump, recording a jump of 5.83m, earning her a well-deserved 2nd place in Tennessee.

 

Doris Mensah and Benedicta Kwartemaa showcased their speed in the 200m, posting impressive times of 25.31 and 26.04 seconds, respectively. Helena Klutsey-Carboo finished with a time of 25:58

 

Among the male athletes who competedin the 60m category, James Dadzie – Sprints set a new personal best with a swift time of 6.58 seconds, closely followed by Isaac Botsioat 6.67 seconds, Solomon Hammond 6.70 seconds, and Ibrahim Fuseini 6.76 seconds.

 

Etiam Koku Bolt demonstrated his prowess in the 600y, achieving a time of 1:05.10.

In the 800m, Aziz Mohammed claimed victory with a remarkable time of 1:51.67, showcasing his exceptional middle-distance running skills.

 

William Amponsah ran the 1 mile in 4:09.83, securing the 1st position in this competitive event.
