Ghanaian boxing star and former Olympian Duke Akueteh Micah has entered a new phase in his life after tying the knot in a colourful private ceremony held in the United States.

The former Commonwealth Bantamweight Champion, who made his mark on the international stage representing Ghana at the 2012 London Olympics, exchanged vows with his longtime partner in front of close friends, family, and select members of the boxing community. The ceremony, believed to have taken place in a suburb of New York or New Jersey—where Micah is now based—combined rich Ghanaian traditions with contemporary American wedding flair.

A Boxing Journey from Accra to the World Stage

Born on 16 September 1991 in Accra, Duke Micah began boxing at a young age, quickly rising through the amateur ranks due to his speed, footwork, and precision. His talent earned him a place in the Ghanaian Olympic team for the 2012 Summer Games, where he competed in the flyweight division. Although he exited the competition in the early rounds, the experience placed him on the radar of international boxing promoters.

Following his Olympic stint, Micah transitioned into the professional circuit, amassing an impressive unbeaten record early in his career. He won the WBO Africa Bantamweight title, the Commonwealth Bantamweight title, and later moved to the United States to further his career under international management.

In September 2020, he earned a shot at the WBO World Bantamweight Title against John Riel Casimero of the Philippines. Despite a valiant effort, Micah was stopped in the third round, suffering the first defeat of his professional career. Nevertheless, he remains one of Ghana’s most accomplished boxers of his generation.

Love and Life in America

Micah has been based in the United States for the past several years, where he continues to train and compete. Sources close to the boxer reveal that his bride is of Ghanaian-American heritage, and the two have been in a committed relationship for several years.

Their wedding ceremony was reportedly a blend of traditional Ghanaian rites and modern American customs. Guests were treated to vibrant kente-clad performances, heartfelt speeches, and a joyful atmosphere that celebrated both love and heritage. The couple is expected to continue residing in the U.S., where Micah remains active in boxing and community mentorship.
