Ghanaian super flyweight prospect Michael “Black Spider” Abban will ring in 2026 with a high-profile showdown against Tanzania’s Muhsin Kizota, contesting the vacant WBA Pan African and Commonwealth Silver titles on January 1 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The 22-year-old southpaw, holding a professional record of 12 wins and one loss, aims to solidify his position in the super flyweight division through this international dual-title bout.
Abban, who recently captured the Commonwealth Youth super flyweight title, spoke confidently to Graphic Sports about his preparation.
“I’m in prime condition and fully prepared for this challenge,” Abban said. “I’ve studied Kizota closely and know his style inside out. He’ll be minced meat on January 1.”
Trained by Ebenezer Adjei, known as “Coach Killer,” Abban expressed readiness for whatever the Tanzanian throws at him.
“I’ve already claimed the Commonwealth Youth title, and my sights are set on bigger fights—like against Britain’s Charlie Edwards for the WBC International belt,” he added. “Kizota will be no match for me.”
Kizota, a seasoned campaigner with a record of 22-6 (13 KOs), poses a significant challenge for the rising Ghanaian star.
Fighting out of the Landmark Boxing Promotions stable—which has developed talents such as Isaac Ekpor, Habib Mohammed, and Raphael Mensah—Abban is poised to add further prestige to his promotional banner.
The New Year’s Day event at the historic Bukom Boxing Arena is expected to draw a passionate crowd, kicking off the year with elite-level boxing action in Ghana’s boxing heartland.
