Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak S.C. are set to face a top-flight club in South Africa later this year following their triumph in the Democracy Cup.

The  encounter, expected to be staged in South Africa, forms part of activities tied to the Democracy Cup initiative, which seeks to promote sports diplomacy and provide Ghanaian clubs with greater international exposure.

Hearts of Oak secured the opportunity after emerging winners of the prestigious Democracy Cup competition, a tournament created to celebrate Ghana’s democratic journey while using football as a platform to strengthen the relationship between citizens and Parliament.

The initiative, championed by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, also aims to expose Ghanaian players, coaches and administrators to international football structures and best practices.

Through the programme, participating clubs are given the opportunity to travel abroad, interact with foreign clubs and experience how football is managed in more developed sporting environments. The matches also provide players with a valuable platform to showcase their talents on the international stage.

Organisers believe the initiative will further enhance Ghana’s sporting reputation globally while opening doors for partnerships between local clubs and their counterparts abroad.

The Democracy Cup is organised by Primeval Media and sponsored by KGL Group, with the broader objective of using football as a tool to promote unity, civic engagement and international collaboration.
