Hearts of Oak Suffer Shock MTN FA Cup Exit to Division Two Side True Life FC

Accra, 3 December 2025 — Accra Hearts of Oak, the most successful club in the history of the MTN FA Cup, were handed a stunning elimination on Wednesday after suffering a 1–0 defeat to Division Two outfit True Life FC at the Kpobiman Sports Complex in the Round of 64.

The Phobians, expected to comfortably navigate the early stages of the competition, looked a shadow of themselves for large periods of the encounter. True Life FC, however, approached the match with remarkable determination, discipline, and tactical organisation, frustrating the former champions from start to finish.

The decisive goal came midway through the second half, capitalising on a defensive lapse that left Hearts’ backline exposed. Despite late pressure from Hearts of Oak, True Life FC held firm, backed by spirited defending and outstanding goalkeeping that ensured their famous victory.

Wednesday’s defeat marks one of the biggest upsets of this season’s MTN FA Cup, leaving Hearts of Oak to reflect on yet another early exit from a competition they have dominated over the years.

The jubilant scenes at Kpobiman told the story, as players, technical handlers, and supporters of True Life FC celebrated a historic win that propels them into the Round of 32 for the first time in their history.

Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, will come under renewed scrutiny from their supporters, who have grown increasingly concerned about the team’s inconsistent performances across competitions this season.

The MTN FA Cup continues this weekend with several other fixtures expected to provide further drama as lower-tier teams attempt to emulate True Life’s heroics.
