As Ghana prepares towards the Commonwealth Games, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, has called for greater commitment and excellence from the nation’s athletes. Speaking at the King’s Baton Relay in Accra, he emphasised the need for Ghana not only to take part in the Games but to aim higher and achieve success.

“Let us aspire not merely to participate in the Commonwealth Games, but to excel and return home with even more laurels for our beloved country,” he stated.

Hon. Debrah further stressed that only athletes and officials who are qualified and deserving will be selected to represent the nation on such prestigious global platforms.

“Only those who are qualified and deserving will represent Ghana at the Commonwealth Games and other international competitions,” he affirmed.

He also issued a strong warning against mediocrity, making it clear that the era of unqualified athletes and officials travelling with national teams to global events has ended.

“The era of unqualified athletes and officials representing Ghana at international events is over,” he declared.

His remarks underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring that Ghana’s participation at international sporting events is marked by fairness, merit and excellence.
