Ghana Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has admitted responsibility for the goal conceded in Ghana’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Tanzania in their final Group C fixture at the ongoing CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The dominant win secured Ghana’s place in the quarter-finals, marking the team’s first appearance at this stage of the competition since 2016. The Black Queens will face Algeria on Saturday, 19th July at 16:00 GMT.

Boye-Hlorkah, who was named Woman of the Match, addressed the goal conceded during a post-match interview, stating:

“I’m so proud of the girls. They had my back out there today… we went all out. We conceded a goal, which I take responsibility for. But we weren’t going to win the game without playing as a team – and that’s exactly what we did. I’m so proud of the girls, I’m proud of Ghana, and I’m just proud to be part of it.”

The England-born midfielder, who made her debut for Ghana in April this year, capped off a fine performance by scoring Ghana’s fourth goal – her first for the national team.
