ICSG Ltd Launches in Accra to Support Insurance Claimants

ACCRA, Ghana — Ghanaians facing delays, denials, and other difficulties in accessing insurance benefits may soon find relief following the launch of Insurance Claims Specialist Group (ICSG) Ltd in Accra.

The new firm, based in East Legon, has entered the market with a stated mission to assist policyholders in pursuing legitimate insurance claims with professionalism, integrity, and efficiency. Its services will cover a range of insurance matters, including motor vehicle, home, and other policy-related claims, including unresolved claims arising from accidents that occurred several years ago.

The official launch was held at the Mensvic Hotel in Accra and drew the attendance of regulators, industry leaders, and other stakeholders. Speakers at the event emphasised the need to strengthen public confidence in Ghana’s insurance industry, particularly at the claims stage, where disputes and delays often undermine trust.

Delivering the keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer of ICSG Ltd, Dennis Yaw Tuffour, said the company’s establishment represented more than the opening of a new business.

“Today is a proud moment for us,” he said. “But more than that, it is a moment of purpose. This occasion is not only about the opening of a company. It is about a commitment to professionalism, a commitment to integrity, and a commitment to strengthening confidence in Ghana’s insurance industry.”

Mr Tuffour cited the National Insurance Commission’s 2024 Annual Report, noting that the insurance sector had shown measurable growth, with industry assets reaching GHS 20.4 billion and revenue amounting to GHS 7.3 billion. Despite that expansion, he observed that public trust in the sector has not risen at the same rate, as reflected in the country’s persistently low insurance penetration levels.

“These numbers matter,” he said. “They show that insurance is becoming more important. But the Report also tells us something else. It means the industry may be growing in size, but public confidence is not growing at the same pace.”

He said the claims process remains the most important test of credibility in the insurance sector.

“Claims are where insurance becomes real,” Mr Tuffour said. “Claims are where trust is built—or broken. Where claims are handled fairly, confidence grows. Where claims are delayed, poorly assessed, or unfairly disputed, the damage goes beyond one file. It affects the reputation of the entire industry.”

According to the company, ICSG Ltd will operate on five core principles: independence and integrity; efficient and high-quality service delivery; compliance with regulatory and technical standards; respectful and transparent treatment of claimants; and active support for efforts to reduce fraud and improve consistency within the market.

Also addressing the event was Richard Gyan-Mensah, Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, who attended on behalf of the Ministry of Finance. He congratulated the company on its entry into the market and called on it to play a broader role in national development.

He said the insurance sector must evolve in line with Ghana’s changing economy and stressed that public trust would remain the most meaningful measure of success.

“Your success will be measured by the trust you build,” he said.

Mr Gyan-Mensah urged the company to combine speed with fairness in claims handling and encouraged greater public education to ensure that ordinary citizens understand both the claims process and their rights under insurance policies.

He further called for closer cooperation among insurers, regulators, and government institutions to make insurance a reliable safety net for households and businesses across the country.

In his closing remarks, Mr Tuffour said restoring confidence in the insurance sector would require collective action rather than isolated effort.

“Trust in insurance cannot be built by one institution alone,” he said. “It requires partnership. Our ambition is not only to build a successful company. Our ambition is to make a meaningful contribution to an insurance market that is stronger, fairer, more transparent, and more trusted for the good people of Ghana.”

ICSG Ltd’s launch comes at a time when Ghana’s financial sector continues to focus on broadening insurance uptake and improving confidence in the industry. The company is positioning itself as an independent ally for policyholders navigating what is often seen as a complex and frustrating claims process.
