Ghanaian cruiserweight boxer Jacob “The Beast” Dickson has hinted at retiring from the sport after coming under intense scrutiny in the wake of his recent fight against Indian boxer Bahubali, who tragically passed away after their contest.
“These accusations have broken me. I feel shattered, and I am seriously thinking of quitting boxing,” Dickson said in an emotional statement.
The bout, which ended in a knockout victory for Dickson, has since been overshadowed by Bahubali’s untimely death, with critics and sections of the boxing fraternity questioning the circumstances surrounding the fight.
Dickson, a former national champion and one of Ghana’s most promising pugilists, insists that he had no ill intent but admits the wave of criticism has left him devastated both mentally and emotionally.
The incident has reignited debates around medical checks, safety regulations, and post-fight care in professional boxing. Should Dickson decide to hang up his gloves, it would mark a premature end to a career that had shown significant promise on both the domestic and international stage.
