Justice Blay Bids Emotional Farewell to Asante Kotoko

Justice Blay Parts Ways with Asante Kotoko After Weeks of Contract Uncertainty

Ghanaian versatile midfielder Justice Blay has officially left Asante Kotoko SC following weeks of uncertainty and negotiations with the club.

The experienced player, widely regarded for his strength and reliability in defensive midfield, mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the Ghana Premier League giants on Tuesday, after what sources describe as a “successful engagement” between both parties.

The decision to part ways came shortly after the conclusion of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, during which the Porcupine Warriors indicated their intention to end their relationship with Blay. However, discussions became protracted due to unresolved financial issues.

Blay, formerly of Medeama SC, insisted on a settlement before finalising his exit, citing the fact that he still had one year remaining on his contract with the Kumasi-based club.

According to media reports, Blay was seeking seven months’ worth of compensation, but ultimately settled for a four-month package following extended negotiations.

His controversial departure now renders him a free agent ahead of the 2025/26 league season, with expectations high that several clubs—both locally and abroad—will express interest in acquiring the seasoned midfielder.

Blay leaves Kotoko having played a significant role in the club’s recent campaigns, earning praise for his professionalism, versatility, and leadership on the field.
