Kotoko Coach Zito Makes Independent Decisions – Communications Director Sarfo Duku

Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Lawyer Sarfo Duku, has dismissed suggestions that head coach Abdul Karim Zito has been influenced in his player recruitment decisions.

Speaking to the media, Mr Duku stressed that all recent additions to the Porcupine Warriors’ squad were based solely on the coach’s technical recommendations.

“As I speak to you today, the new signings were all based on Coach Zito’s recommendations. Coach Zito is no amateur; he would not succumb to any external influence, not even from the club’s management,” Duku affirmed.

His remarks follow growing criticism after Kotoko endured a disappointing run in the recently concluded GHALCA Top 4 tournament, where they lost all three matches – including a painful 2-0 defeat to arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.

The defeats have sparked debate among supporters regarding the club’s transfer dealings, but management insists that Coach Zito remains firmly in charge of squad-building decisions ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
