Kotoko Suffer Double Injury Setback as Acquah and Baffour Ruled Out
Asante Kotoko have been dealt a major setback ahead of the second phase of their pre-season preparations in Cape Coast, with wingers Peter Amidu Acquah and Elvis Kyei Baffour ruled out for approximately six weeks after sustaining ankle injuries.
Detailed medical examinations by the club’s medical department have confirmed that both players will be unavailable for full training and competitive action until late September. The injuries, suffered in separate training sessions earlier this week, mean the duo are almost certain to miss the start of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The absence of two key wide men presents a significant challenge for head coach Karim Zito who will now be forced to consider tactical adjustments and alternative attacking options as the Porcupine Warriors aim to make a strong start to the campaign.
Some club supporters club commented:
“It’s a huge blow to lose both players at such an important stage of our preparations, but we have full confidence in their commitment to rehabilitation and look forward to welcoming them back stronger.”
