Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has named his final squad for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, with 13 players coming from domestic double winners Al-Hilal Khartoum.

The Falcons of Jediane are drawn in Group D alongside Nigeria, Congo Brazzaville and reigning champions Senegal for the tournament, which will run from August 2 to 30, 2025.

Following the conclusion of the Sudan Premier League and Super Cup on Saturday, the Falcons assembled on Sunday ahead of their scheduled arrival in Zanzibar on July 30.

Sudan will be making their third appearance at CHAN, having previously competed in 2011 and 2018. Their best finish came on home soil in 2011 when they placed third.

Appiah, a former Ghana national team coach, will rely heavily on Al-Hilal and Al-Merriekh players, with goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Fateh, midfield anchor Mohamed Al-Rasheed Mahmoud, and forward Mohamed Abdulrahman Yousif among the key names included.

Sudan will be aiming to improve on their continental record and make a strong showing in one of the tournament’s toughest groups.
