The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 2026 IFBB West Africa Championship has officially extended an invitation to the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to attend this year’s highly anticipated event.

The invitation was delivered during a courtesy call led by the President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), Abdul Haye Yartey, alongside members of the LOC. The meeting served as an opportunity to formally brief the NSA boss on preparations for the championship and to seek institutional support.

Speaking during the engagement, Mr Ankrah commended the federation for its dedication and consistent efforts in promoting bodybuilding and fitness in Ghana. He assured the delegation of the NSA’s full support and confirmed his intention to attend the championship in person.

Mr Yartey, on his part, expressed confidence in the LOC’s readiness to deliver a memorable and high-quality event. He pledged that this year’s championship would showcase the very best of bodybuilding talent across the West African region and called on sports enthusiasts and the general public to turn out in large numbers.

The 2026 IFBB West Africa Championship is scheduled to take place at the National Theatre of Ghana on 24 April 2026, with proceedings set to begin at 5:00 p.m. The event is expected to attract top athletes and officials from across the sub-region, further cementing Ghana’s growing reputation as a hub for international sporting events.
