Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana pounders over AFCON participation

Close sources suggest that Manchester United and Cameron shot-stopper ANDRE ONANA is strongly considering staying out of the 2023 AFCON in a bid to keep his number one position at United.

The player is very much affected by his recent blatant mistakes against Galatasaray and is now afraid he could lose his place in the starting 11 if a chance is given to his number 2 at United during the AFCON.

FIFA rules, however, indicate the player will face a sanction if he rejects a national team call-up.

More clearly, the rule states if a player is called up by his country, he cannot represent his club during that period and only his country can grant him permission to stay away and play for his club. In the absence of the permission, FIFA shall oblige the player to stay out of club action for the duration of the national team period.
