Algiers, Algeria – Ghana’s rising table tennis sensation, Michael Agyapong Mensah, has done the nation proud by securing a bronze medal in the Boys’ Singles event at the inaugural African Schools Games held in Algeria.

A Form One student of Opoku Ware Senior High School, Michael demonstrated remarkable skill, composure, and determination throughout the tournament, facing off against some of the finest young talents from across the continent.

His impressive run to the podium included a commanding 3-0 victory over Cameroon’s Bradley Camille Marseille in the Round of 16 and a nail-biting 4-3 win against Uganda’s top seed, Luwooza Imran, in the quarter-finals.

Although he was narrowly defeated in the semi-finals by Madagascar’s Steffe Rahndy Rakotondrazaka, Michael showed resilience by bouncing back strongly to secure the bronze medal with a 3-1 triumph over Tunisia’s Mechergui Anas.

This outstanding performance not only contributes to Ghana’s medal haul but also cements Michael’s status as one of the nation’s most promising young table tennis talents.

His success at the 2025 African Schools Games is expected to serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across Ghana, signalling a bright future ahead for the young star.
