Millwall Secure Tariq Lamptey’ younger Brother Rafiq on Long-Term Deal
Millwall Football Club have announced that 19-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Rafiq Lamptey, the younger brother of Florentina defender Tariq Nii Kwame Lante Lamptey, has signed a new long-term contract with the Championship side.

Rafiq joined Millwall in 2024 and has quickly established himself as one of the club’s most promising prospects. He featured prominently in the Lions’ pre-season preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, impressing with his composure, vision, and technical ability in midfield.
The new deal underlines Millwall’s faith in the teenager’s potential as he looks to continue his development at The Den. Club officials have described Rafiq as a “player with tremendous energy and intelligence on the ball,” highlighting his versatility in central and attacking midfield roles.
With the contract secured, Lamptey is expected to play an increasingly important role for the Lions this season as they seek to strengthen their push in the Championship. He will also find himself competing against a host of fellow Ghanaians in the league, including Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew at Swansea City, Fatawu Issahaku at Leicester City, Thomas-Asante at West Bromwich Albion, and Forson Amankwah at Southampton.
Millwall supporters will be eager to see whether Rafiq can follow in the footsteps of his elder brother Tariq, who has become a regular feature for both club and country. For Ghana, his progress will be monitored closely, with the potential for another Lamptey to emerge on the international stage in the coming years.
