Morocco has taken a significant step in its preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the arrival of 723 custom-built Yutong buses from China. The delivery, which represents the largest of its kind on the African continent, is expected to transform the transport infrastructure available for the tournament.

The new fleet will be deployed across host cities to ensure efficient, reliable and modern transport for players, officials, fans and tourists during AFCON 2025. Beyond the competition, the buses form part of Morocco’s long-term strategy to modernise its public transport system in anticipation of co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

The acquisition also underlines the strong trade and diplomatic ties between Morocco and China, with Yutong, one of the world’s leading bus manufacturers, tailoring the vehicles to meet Moroccan road and climate conditions.

Officials in Rabat have described the delivery as a “milestone” in Morocco’s readiness to host major international events. The buses are equipped with modern safety features, improved seating capacity and environmentally friendly technology, further enhancing the country’s image as a forward-looking sporting destination.
