National sports college donates relief items to winneba local prison

Winneba — The National Sports College (NSC), Winneba, has donated assorted relief items to the Winneba Local Prison as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, aimed at making the festive season more meaningful and comfortable for inmates.

The delegation from the College was led by the Director, Mr Bawah Fuseini, accompanied by the Head of Technical, Mr Emmanuel Appiah, together with other senior members and staff of the institution.

 

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service, the Officer-in-Charge of the Winneba Local Prison, DSP Ebenezer Adomako Ansah, expressed profound appreciation to the College for the kind gesture. He noted that the donation would significantly support the welfare of inmates and commended the NSC for its continued support and concern for the wellbeing of the prison community.

 

In his remarks, Mr Fuseini reaffirmed the College’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, stressing that the mandate of the National Sports College goes beyond sports development to include contributing positively to society at large.

 

The items presented included packs of toilet rolls, toothpaste and toothbrushes, toilet soap, washing powder, as well as bags of rice.

 

The donation exercise concluded with a brief interaction between the NSC delegation and officials of the Prisons Service, including an engagement with inmates, underscoring the spirit of partnership, compassion and goodwill between the two institutions.
