Accra Hearts of Oak have officially withdrawn from the upcoming Eko International Tournament scheduled to take place in Nigeria.

The Ghanaian giants were initially expected to feature in the highly anticipated pre-season event, which has drawn participation from several top clubs across West Africa. However, the club has now pulled out of the competition due to what sources describe as “unresolved logistical and administrative challenges.”

In a brief statement, Hearts of Oak confirmed their withdrawal, expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to organisers and fans alike.

“The club will continue its pre-season preparations with alternative arrangements, both locally and internationally, as we focus on building a competitive side for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season,” the statement read.

The Eko International Tournament, which is set to take place in Lagos, was designed to foster regional competition and provide clubs with a platform to fine-tune their squads ahead of their respective league campaigns. Hearts of Oak’s absence will be a notable miss from the line-up, given their stature and history in African football.
