The Super Eagles of Nigeria have booked their place in the finals of the African World Cup play-offs after a commanding 4–1 victory over Gabon. Nigeria will now face the winner of the Cameroon  versus DR Congo semi-final, scheduled for later this week, with the decisive play-off final set for Sunday.

Nigeria produced a dominant second-half display to overturn early pressure from the Panthers, showcasing composure, teamwork and clinical finishing.

Goal Scorers:

78’ — Akor Adams: The striker capitalised on a defensive lapse to put Nigeria ahead after sustained pressure from the Super Eagles.

89’ — Chidera Ejuke: Ejuke doubled the advantage with a well-placed effort following a swift counter-attacking move.

97’ — Mario Lemina (Gabon): Lemina briefly reignited Gabon’s hopes with a consolation strike.

102’ & 110’ — Victor Osimhen: The Napoli forward sealed the result with a late brace, demonstrating his trademark pace and precision to put the match beyond Gabon’s reach.

Head Coach  Éric Sékou Chelle praised his team’s resilience and hunger, noting that the performance reflected Nigeria’s determination to secure a place at the next World Cup.

Nigeria now turns its attention to Sunday’s decisive clash, where a win would guarantee their qualification and further cement their status as one of Africa’s elite footballing nations.
