President Mahama to grace launch of 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season

President John Dramani Mahama will join the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in launching the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season on Friday, September 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event, scheduled for 5:00 p.m., will officially usher in a new era of domestic football, with the opening fixture set to feature Hearts of Oak against newly promoted Hoehoe United.

In a notice confirming the president’s participation as Special Guest of Honour, the GFA also revealed that multiple award-winning reggae-dancehall artiste Stonebwoy will perform live at the ceremony.

“The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is officially launching! Join us at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 12, 2025, at 5 PM. We’ll be joined by His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, with a live performance by the Torcher, Stonebwoy. Get ready for an exciting season of Ghanaian football,” the GFA posted on X.

The new campaign is expected to generate huge excitement as clubs strengthen their squads and fans anticipate another season of thrilling football across the country.
