Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, according to sources who spoke to BBC Sport.
The 40-year-old Portugal captain’s current deal was set to expire at the end of June, but reports suggest a two-year extension is nearing completion.
Speculation over his future intensified last month after Ronaldo posted “the chapter is over” on social media, following Al-Nassr’s final Saudi Pro League match of the season.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino later hinted at the possibility of Ronaldo joining a club participating in the upcoming Club World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, after Al-Nassr failed to qualify for the newly expanded tournament.
However, Ronaldo confirmed that while he had received offers from competing clubs, he had chosen to turn them down.
Having recently helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus forward now appears set to continue his career in Saudi Arabia. He is also reportedly exploring potential sports investment opportunities within the Gulf nation.
Ronaldo originally joined Al-Nassr in 2023 following the termination of his contract with Manchester United.
