Shocker: Ministry of youth and sports to provide updates on Ghana’s expenditure in Cote d’Ivoire

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has spent one million six-hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($1,650,000.00) on Ghana’s abysmal campaign in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Kumasi based radio station Metro sports claims.

In a document sighted by Metro Sports, the Sports Ministry budgeted about twenty five million dollars ($25m) for the 34th edition of the AFCON in Ivory Coast but couldn’t exhaust all the estimated budget due to Black Stars’ failure to advance from the group stage.

Each Black Stars player would have received Thirty-thousand dollars ($30,000) as qualification bonus should the team had progressed through to the round of 16.

Failure to advance to the next stage means the team made up of 27 players saved the nation a whooping amount of Eight hundred and Ten thousand dollars (810,000).

Head Coach Chris Hughton would have been smiling to the bank to cash out his $60,000 and the rest of the technical team would have had $21,000.

In total, $891,000 has been saved as the team failed to qualify from Group B.

Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif in the coming days is expected to appear before Parliament to give accounts on Ghana’s expenditure in Ivory Coast.

Ghana made their 24th appearance in the tournament but failed to once again impress finishing 3rd in group B with just 2 points.
