Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure across the country, emphasizing plans to collaborate with Turkish companies to achieve this goal.

Speaking on Monday, the Minister explained that Ghana is actively engaging Turkish firms with expertise in stadium construction and renovation to upgrade existing facilities and build new modern sports complexes that meet international standards.

According to him, this initiative is part of a broader government strategy to position Ghana as a hub for international sporting events and provide world-class facilities for both local and foreign athletes.

“Ghana’s vision is to create a modern sports environment that aligns with global benchmarks. We believe Turkish companies, with their track record in sports infrastructure, can play a key role in helping us achieve this objective,” Adams stated.

The project will focus not only on upgrading existing stadia but also on constructing new multi-purpose arenas, training centers, and ancillary facilities to support sports development nationwide.

Adams also underscored the importance of this initiative in boosting Ghana’s chances of hosting future continental and global tournaments, while also improving the experience for local fans and athletes.

The move comes at a time when many of Ghana’s major stadia, including the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium, have faced criticism over their deteriorating state and lack of modern facilities.
