Sports Minister visits Kotoko ahead of CAF Confederation Cup tie on Sunday

Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has visited Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club ahead of the club’s CAF Confederation Cup tie this weekend.

The Porcupine Warriors take on Nigeria’s Kwara United on Sunday, September 21 at 15:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The upcoming game is the first of a two legged tie in the preliminary round of the continental competition marking Kotoko’s return to African football competition.

The Sports Minister led a delegation from the Ministry that included Technical Advisor at the Ministry Betty Krosbi Mensah to meet the team ahead of the game.

Kotoko’s delegation was led by the team’s Interim Management Committee Chairman Nana Apinkra; club legend Opoku Nti was also present at the meeting.

Kotoko is one of two clubs representing Ghana in continental football this weekend with reigning Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars competing in the CAF Champions League.

Gold Stars play at the Accra Stadium on Saturday, September 20 at 15:00 GMT against Algeria side JS Kabylie.
