Ghanaian reggae and dancehall star Stonebwoy has shed light on his involvement in the unveiling of Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the BET Award-winning artist on Asempa fm, his local manager received a direct request from Tottenham Hotspur, asking that Stonebwoy compose a special track for Kudus’ official announcement. The club was reportedly aware of the close friendship between the two and also noted Stonebwoy’s earlier contribution to Thomas Partey’s unveiling at Arsenal in 2020.

“I got a call that Spurs had reached out and were interested in me producing something special for Kudus’ arrival,” Stonebwoy revealed. “I didn’t hesitate. I went straight to the studio and put together the song—it had to represent Kudus, Ghana, and his journey.”

The track was used in a widely shared unveiling video that confirmed Kudus’ high-profile move from West Ham United to Tottenham in a deal reported to be worth around £60 million. The 23-year-old signed a five-year contract with the North London club, becoming one of the most expensive Ghanaian footballers in history.

Kudus has already begun training with his new teammates under manager  and is expected to play a key role in Spurs’ upcoming season, especially with the club aiming to bolster their midfield after an inconsistent 2024/25 campaign.

His departure has, however, left a section of West Ham United fans disappointed. Kudus was a standout performer for the Hammers last season, contributing significantly in both the Premier League and European competitions. Many fans have taken to social media to express their dismay, citing the club’s failure to retain their top talent.

Stonebwoy, who previously hinted at nearly getting a tattoo when Kudus was at West Ham, joked that his allegiance now lies firmly with Tottenham. “Now that Kudus is at Spurs, I guess I’m a Spurs fan too,” he laughed.

He also acknowledged that the collaboration with Tottenham has elevated his global music profile. “The record for Kudus has opened more doors and has helped boost my brand internationally. It shows how far music and football can go together.”
