Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approves new board to boost club’s performance ahead of new NPFL season

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially approved the reconstitution of the management board of Kano Pillars Football Club, in a move aimed at strengthening the team ahead of the upcoming Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

This follows the expiration of the one-year tenure previously granted to the club’s management, during which the team secured a respectable 9th-place finish in the league.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision comes after extensive consultations with key stakeholders. It was agreed that most of the outgoing board members would be reappointed for another term, alongside strategic changes intended to enhance the club’s competitiveness.

Among the notable developments is the appointment of celebrated international footballer Ahmed Musa, OON, MON, as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars FC. This appointment is in line with global best practices and is expected to bring Musa’s vast experience and leadership to bear in repositioning the club as a serious title contender.
