Tetteh Vows to “Show Work” on Resurrection Night as Tensions Boil Over at Final Presser
Tempers flared and tensions reached boiling point on Thursday afternoon as Jonathan Tetteh and Abdul Aziz Quartey engaged in a heated war of words at the final press conference ahead of their highly anticipated showdown.
The pre-fight event, staged at Laboma Beach Resort, saw the Amsterdam Kitchen and Bar come alive with passionate exchanges from both fighters and their supporters, setting the tone for what promises to be an explosive night of boxing.
The bout headlines the “Resurrection Fight Night”, jointly promoted by RBS Promotions and Box Office Promotions, and has already captured the imagination of boxing enthusiasts across the country.
Quartey, 28, enters the contest with a record of 23 wins, six losses and one draw, including an impressive 22 knockouts. Clearly relishing the underdog role, he addressed the enthusiastic crowd with confidence, pledging to reignite his career.
“I’m very grateful to the promoters and Tetteh for this opportunity. This is my moment to step back into the spotlight in the light heavyweight division, and I will not let it slip,” Quartey declared. “I have studied him closely and found the antidote to his weaknesses. Come Sunday, April 26, I will resurrect.”
Standing in his way is the unbeaten Tetteh, who boasts a formidable record of 11 wins from 11 fights, with 10 knockouts. Nicknamed “Worldwide”, he appeared unfazed by the hostile reception from sections of the crowd, exuding calm confidence as he dismissed his opponent’s chances.
“He is not my match,” Tetteh responded bluntly. “I promise a smooth victory on Sunday. I will show my work and give him a boxing lesson.”
Beyond the rivalry in the ring, the stakes are equally significant. Tetteh is aiming to cement his authority in the light heavyweight division by capturing the Ghanaian national title, while also adding the WBA Africa Light Heavyweight belt to his growing collection.
Meanwhile, Dr Alfred Botchway, Chief Executive Officer of Laboma Beach Resort and RBS Promotions, reiterated his organisation’s commitment to elevating the sport.
“Our vision is to stage high-quality boxing events not only in Ghana but on the global stage,” he said. “Nights like this demonstrate the potential we have to grow the sport and showcase our fighters to the world.”
With emotions already running high and pride on the line, all eyes now turn to Resurrection Fight Night, where words will give way to action in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
