Theo Lopez Crowned WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion as Ghana’s Rising Star Climbs Global Rankings

Rising Ghanaian boxing star Theophilus Nii Kpakpo Allotey, popularly known in the ring as Theo Lopez, has officially received his WBO Africa Bantamweight Title Belt. The prestigious honour was presented to him by Mr Samir Captan, the World Boxing Organisation’s (WBO) representative in Africa, during a brief but significant ceremony.

Allotey, who trains under the tutelage of renowned national coach Dr Ofori Asare, has quickly established himself as one of the country’s most promising fighters. He already holds the titles of Ghana National Champion and UBO Africa Super Flyweight Champion, cementing his reputation as a multi-division contender.

Currently ranked 15th in the WBO world standings and 5th by the African Boxing Union (ABU), the young pugilist continues to climb the international ladder. His dominance has not gone unnoticed locally either, as he now sits at the top of BoxingGhana’s Pound-for-Pound rankings for September 2025, a testament to his consistency, discipline, and flair inside the squared circle.
