Togbe Afede’s investment at Hearts of Oak can be linked to fetching water with a basket- Former Hearts Captain Dan Quaye

Former Hearts of Oak defender Daniel Quaye has stated that the club’s board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, has not had any significant since becoming the majority shareholder.

Despite winning the Ghana Premier League within the period, Dan Quuye believes the club’s standard is to be competitive in CAF inter-club competitions.

He told ghanasportspage.com that the board chairman is yet to make Hearts of Oak competitive at the continental level. Hence, he has declined under his administration.

“What has he done apart from winning the league? If Hearts of Oak or Kotoko wins the league, it is not news. Because we’ve won t the league several times. We want beyond like we won the Champions League in 2000 and the Confederations Cup we won. Like what Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, and the likes are doing.”

“If Hearts of Oak are able to compete in the Champions League and the Confederations Cup every season, that is when you can say you are working. But in his 10 years, how many times have you seen Hearts of Oak play in the Champions League and the Confederations Cup.”

Concerning recent reports that Togbe has not made significant earnings from his investment in the club since taking over, Dan Quaye blamed it on the board chairman’s method of running the club.

“If you are doing a business and you are not earning as you should, it means you need to change things. It’s like fetching water with a basket. Maybe that’s how he(Togbe Afede) wants it(to waste his money).

Togbe Afede became the executive board chairman of Hearts of Oak in 2014 with a 40 percent stake.

He subsequently assumed the role as the executive board chairman and won one Premier League title and one MTN FA Cup.
