Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has been ruled out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament following an injury he picked whiles training with the side.
The 23-year-old joins the long list of injured players who would miss the biennial tournament after Wilfred Ndidi recently faced a similar issue.
The forward would be replaced by Nice striker Terem Moffi who would hope to help the Super Eagles secure their fourth AFCON title.
The striker’s injury comes as a huge loss to his side, having bagged ten goals and seven assists in the Bundesliga this season.
