WAFCON 2024: “Go for Gold” – Kudus Urges Ghana Ahead of Morocco Semi-Final Clash
Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus has sent a passionate message of support to the Black Queens as they prepare to face hosts Morocco in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The senior women’s national team reached the last four after a gruelling 120-minute goalless draw against Algeria, eventually triumphing 4-2 on penalties in the quarter-finals.
With a place in the final at stake, Kudus – who recently completed a high-profile move from West Ham United to Tottenham Hotspur – encouraged the Queens to keep pushing for their first-ever WAFCON title.
“I’m just here to wish you well in your upcoming games. I’m really proud of your energy, your work and the fight to defend the country Ghana,” Kudus said in a video message.
“I’m really looking forward to your next game and I wish you bring the gold home. I wish you all the best – and we are behind you.”
The Black Queens qualified for the knockout stage after finishing second in Group C. Despite an opening defeat to South Africa, they bounced back with a 1–1 draw against Mali and a commanding 4–1 victory over Tanzania.
Ghana will battle Morocco on Tuesday, July 22, with a place in the final – and history – on the line.
