The 2024/25 Ballon d’Or ceremony delivered history, emotion and milestones on a glittering night in Paris. Ousmane Dembélé was crowned the world’s best player, becoming the sixth Frenchman to lift football’s most prestigious individual honour, while Spain’s Aitana Bonmatà secured the women’s Ballon d’Or for a second consecutive year.
The evening also celebrated the next generation, with teenage sensations Lamine Yamal and Vicky López recognised as the best young players in the men’s and women’s categories respectively. Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hanna Hampton took home the Yashin Trophies for goalkeeping excellence, while Viktor Gyökeres and Ewa Pajor were rewarded as the most prolific scorers of the season.
Arsenal were named Women’s Club of the Year, highlighting their resurgence on the continental stage, while Paris Saint-Germain secured the Men’s Club of the Year title. In coaching, Luis Enrique and Sarina Wiegman were honoured with the Johan Cruyff Trophies for their tactical brilliance.
The Socrates Trophy went to the Xana Foundation, in recognition of their outstanding humanitarian and social impact.
