Former Ebusua Dwarfs, King Faisal and Kenpong Football Academy goalkeeper, Stephen Awere, is stepping up preparations ahead of the second round of the Benin top-flight league with renewed confidence and determination.

The shot-stopper, who currently plies his trade with Real Sport du Bénin, endured a frustrating first round after being sidelined through injury. His absence was keenly felt, but the Ghanaian goalkeeper has now made an impressive return to action.

Awere underlined his readiness by keeping a clean sheet in a resounding 6–0 victory during a recent friendly match, a performance that has boosted optimism within the club’s technical team as they fine-tune preparations for the resumption of the league campaign.

Goalkeepers’ trainer Saliu and Head Coach Amoro have both expressed satisfaction with Awere’s recovery and current form. The technical handlers believe his experience and composure between the posts will be vital as the club seeks a strong second-round performance.

Speaking after the friendly encounter, Awere noted that he feels physically sharp and mentally prepared for the challenge ahead. “I am in good shape and focused on helping the team achieve its objectives in the second round,” he said.

The goalkeeper has also received praise from former Asante Kotoko shot-stopper Danlad Ibrahim, who has applauded his resilience and professionalism. Danlad is reported to have encouraged Awere to maintain consistency and seize the opportunity to re-establish himself as a key figure for his side.

With full fitness restored and confidence growing, Awere will be aiming to translate his promising displays in pre-season friendlies into commanding performances when the Benin league resumes, as Real Sport du Bénin look to climb the table in the second half of the season.
