Black Queens Lift 2026 Pink Ladies Cup Following Impressive Run

0 1

Ghana’s Black Queens have been crowned champions of the 2026 Pink Ladies Cup in Dubai after an impressive performance throughout the tournament.

Coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s side began the competition strongly and maintained their fine form to secure the trophy on Friday morning. The Black Queens recorded convincing victories over Hong Kong, China and Russia, which ultimately placed them at the top of the standings.

The tournament, however, ended prematurely after both the third-place match and the final were abandoned. Ghana had been scheduled to face Tanzania in the final, but the match was called off, resulting in the Black Queens being declared champions following their outstanding performances in the earlier fixtures.

The final was initially scheduled for 9:00 p.m. but was later rescheduled to 4:00 p.m. Despite the adjustment, the game did not take place.

According to sources, the decision to cancel the remaining matches was due to escalating security concerns in the region, particularly the ongoing tensions and reported military exchanges between Iran and the United States, which were deemed to pose potential risks to the players and officials.

As a result, the tournament concluded without the final being played, with Ghana emerging as the overall winners of the 2026 Pink Ladies Cup.
