RBS Promotions has officially confirmed Sunday, 5 April 2026, as the date for its next major boxing event, branded The Resurrection Fight Night, set to take place at the scenic Laboma Beach Resort in Accra.

The event, a collaboration between RBS Promotions and Bosoffice Promotions, will be headlined by Ghana’s unbeaten light heavyweight contender Jonathan “Worldwide” Tetteh, who is scheduled to face Abdul Aziz Quartey for the National Light Heavyweight Championship. The bout is expected to draw significant attention, with both fighters eager to assert dominance in one of Ghana’s most competitive weight divisions.

The announcement, made during a lively press launch at the Laboma Beach Resort car park, generated considerable excitement among fans and stakeholders. The occasion also intensified existing rivalries, particularly following confirmation of a compelling co-main event featuring Seth Gyimah, popularly known as Freezy Macbones, against Nigeria’s Jamiu Animashaun.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Laboma Beach Resort, who also serves as the principal financier of RBS Promotions, emphasised the venue’s growing reputation in hosting high-profile sporting events.

“Laboma Beach Resort has consistently set the standard, particularly within Ghana’s boxing landscape, and we remain committed to raising the bar. We were the first to successfully stage a beachfront boxing event in Ghana—and arguably across Africa. On 5 April, fans can expect a thrilling night as some of the country’s finest light heavyweights take centre stage,” he stated.

Tetteh, 25, boasts an impressive undefeated record of 11 fights, including 10 knockouts. His last outing came in December 2025, where he secured a unanimous decision victory over Freezy Macbones in a fiercely contested eight-round encounter. Known for his power and ring intelligence, Tetteh will be aiming to preserve his flawless record while capturing national honours.

His opponent, Abdul Aziz Quartey, enters the contest with a professional record of 23 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw, including 22 knockouts. The 28-year-old has experienced mixed fortunes in recent bouts—recording a draw against Jibril Mohammed, a third-round stoppage victory over Collision Korley, and a first-round defeat to Oleg Zangiev in Russia earlier this year. Despite these setbacks, Quartey remains a dangerous and experienced contender capable of causing an upset.

The undercard features a number of promising match-ups that add further depth to the event:

Michael Abban vs Damien Zannou

Emmanuel Quartey vs TBA

Alfred Lamptey vs Maxwell Awuku

Joseph Commey vs Bright Ayala

Wilson Asamoah vs Godwin Tetteh

Clinton Nana Adjei vs TBA

With a blend of rising talents and established names, The Resurrection Fight Night is shaping up to be one of the standout boxing events on Ghana’s sporting calendar. Beyond the fights, the beachfront setting promises a unique atmosphere, combining elite boxing with entertainment and nightlife, making it an unmissable experience for fans.

All eyes will now be on 5 April, as Ghana’s boxing fraternity gathers for what promises to be an electrifying night under the lights.
