Accra, Ghana — Just days before the highly anticipated “Best of Bukom 3” boxing event, a legal dispute has erupted between Bishop Boxing Promotions and La Boma Beach Resort, threatening to derail the showdown scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026.

In a strongly worded notice dated May 4, 2026, lawyers for Bishop Boxing Promotions—Akpalu, Yartey & Associates—accused the upscale La Boma Beach Resort in La, Accra, of backing out of a collaboration agreement unilaterally.

According to the legal notice, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on March 24, 2026, outlining their respective roles. Bishop Boxing Promotions was to lead event promotion, secure fighters and Athletic Commission approvals, coordinate broadcast arrangements with IMAX TV, manage ticketing, and oversee logistics.

La Boma Beach Resort, referred to as the “Hospitality Partner,” was obligated to host the event at agreed locations within the resort, provide venue services including power, staffing, hospitality, security coordination, assist with regulatory permits, and collaborate on on-site marketing and guest services.

The law firm states that Bishop Boxing Promotions has already invested substantial sums in fulfilling its part of the bargain. However, tensions came to a head on Sunday, May 3, when resort representatives reportedly invited the promoter to a meeting and made clear their intention to opt out of the agreed terms.

“The Hospitality Partner… unilaterally abrogated the agreement,” the notice reads.

With the event barely five days away, all attempts to get the resort to reverse its decision have proven futile, according to the promoter’s legal team.

The law firm has now served notice demanding that La Boma Beach Resort convene a meeting for amicable settlement within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving the notice. Failure to comply, the letter warns, will compel Bishop Boxing Promotions to enforce its legal and equitable rights to recover all expenses incurred, interest at the Commercial Bank Lending Rate from May 3 until final payment, plus damages for breach of contract and harm to the promoter’s business brand.

The notice is addressed to the resort’s Business Development Manager, Mr. Neelante Bruce, care of La Boma Beach Resort.

Attempts to reach La Boma Beach Resort for comment were not immediately successful as of press time.

“Best of Bukom” events are known for showcasing Ghanaian boxing talent, and any last-minute cancellation or venue change could disappoint a large turnout of fight fans in Accra.
