Match report: King Faisal beaten at Abrankese by Berekum Chelsea

King Faisal FC honoured their first game at their newly adopted home grounds, Kwame Kyei Sports Complex against Berekum Chelsea and lost all points by 1-0 on Match Day 18.

King Faisal brimmed with confidence and looked convincing to snatch all three points to open the grounds with a positive results.

However, Berekum Chelsea gave the home side a bitter pill to swallow very early in the game by pouncing on a counter attack deep in the half of King Faisal.

Mezack Afriyie combined with Flavien Kongoza to open the scoring for Berekum Chelsea on the 7th minute.

King Faisal pushed harder to neutralize the opposition before half time to ensure better stability and command in the game.

Benjamin Bature, David Obeng Afrane and Baba Yahaya created plethora of chances but Gregory Obeng Sekyere stood tall in post to prevent King Faisal from scoring.

Berekum Chelsea won the first half by 1-0 thanks to Mezack Afriyie’s early steal.

In the second half, Berekum Chelsea shifted to a three back led by Fusseini Zakaria to solidify their gains.

King Faisal were strong in attack and continued creating cutting edge opportunities but Samuel Boakye’s effort was thwarted by Gregory Obeng Sekyere on the 65th minute to keep the away side firm in the lead.

There was a penalty call by King Faisal on the 70th minute when Baba Yahaya maneuvered his way through the defense and fell inside the box but the calls were ignored by the referee Asafuah Panyin.

Few minutes later Samuel Boakye connected to a beautiful cross from the right flanks by Nasiru Ebla but the woodwork prevented King Faisal from equalizing as the ball rolled behind Gregory Obeng Sekyere on the face of goal.

Coach Jimmy Corblah brought on Suraj Ibrahim and Samuel Kusi to strengthen their attack on the flanks.

King Faisal’s effort to find the equalizer were annuled by the opposition and stood resolute for more than 80 minutes to run away with all three points.

Berekum Chelsea complete a back-to-back on King Faisal this season as they continue their smooth upper hand on the Kumasi-based side.
