Asare Benched as Hearts of Oak Hold Bechem United to Goalless Draw
Benjamin Asare was left on the bench as an unused substitute as Hearts of Oak head coach opted for Solomon Agbasi in goal during the club’s goalless draw against Bechem United.
Agbasi was handed the starting role ahead of Asare in the tightly contested Ghana Premier League encounter, with both sides failing to find a breakthrough despite several half-chances over the course of the match. Hearts of Oak were solid defensively but lacked cutting edge in attack, settling for a point at full time.
Asare, who is the current first-choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars, watched on from the sidelines as Agbasi completed the full 90 minutes. The decision sparked discussion among supporters, given Asare’s recent consistent performances both at club level and on international duty.
The experienced shot-stopper will, however, be hopeful of reclaiming his place in the starting XI when Hearts of Oak return to action in their next league fixture, as competition for places intensifies within the squad.
Hearts of Oak remain focused on improving their league position as the season progresses, with the technical team expected to rotate the squad in search of improved results.
