Black Stars team doctor visits Mohammed salisu in Monaco amid ACL rehabilitation

Black Stars team doctor, Dr Prince Pambo, has paid a visit to Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu in Monaco as part of ongoing efforts to support injured players ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Salisu, a key figure in Ghana’s defensive set-up, is currently undergoing rehabilitation after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during AS Monaco’s French Ligue 1 fixture against Olympique Lyon in January. The injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season and cast uncertainty over his availability for the national team’s forthcoming assignments.

Dr Pambo’s visit forms part of a broader medical and technical monitoring strategy by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to maintain close contact with players recovering from injury abroad. The exercise is aimed at assessing progress, offering medical guidance where necessary, and strengthening collaboration between the national team’s medical department and players’ respective clubs.

Sources close to the team indicate that Salisu’s rehabilitation is progressing steadily under the supervision of Monaco’s medical staff, with a structured recovery programme designed to ensure a safe return to competitive action. While no definitive timeline has been set for his comeback, the Black Stars’ technical team remains hopeful that the centre-back will regain full fitness in time to contribute to Ghana’s World Cup campaign.

Salisu has been an influential presence in the Black Stars’ backline in recent years, earning plaudits for his composure, aerial strength and tactical awareness. His potential return would provide a significant boost to the squad as Ghana intensifies preparations for the crucial qualifiers.
