Ghana Athletics has secured a significant sponsorship agreement with Fenaam Industries Limited, producers of Peeva Water, Peeva Drinks and other beverage products, ahead of the 24th African Senior Athletics Championships, set to take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon, Accra.

Officials signing the MoU

The landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed in Accra, marking a major boost for the local organising committee as preparations intensify for one of the continent’s biggest sporting events.

Under the terms of the agreement, Peeva Beverages, a flagship brand of Fenaam Industries Limited, will become the exclusive distributor of bottled water for the championship, supplying more than 10,000 bottles across the five-day competition. The company will also provide beverages for officials, volunteers, athletes and guests throughout the tournament.

In an added show of support, Team Ghana will also be kitted by Peeva Beverages as the nation’s athletes prepare to compete on home soil against Africa’s finest track and field stars.

Bawa Fuseini Welcomes Timely Support

Speaking after the signing ceremony, President of Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseini, expressed his delight at the partnership, describing it as a timely intervention for the federation.

According to him, attracting sponsorship for athletics can be a challenge, particularly in a year when much of the corporate spotlight is focused on football, with the Black Stars preparing for the FIFA World Cup.

He noted that Fenaam Industries Limited’s decision to invest in athletics demonstrates confidence in the sport and will go a long way in supporting the successful organisation of the championships.

“We are truly relieved and grateful. This partnership means a lot to us as a federation. Peeva is not only providing beverages for the competition but also supporting Team Ghana directly. It has come at the perfect time,” he said.

Fenaam Industries Targets Growth of Athletics

Board Chairman of Fenaam Industries Limited, Mr Frank Agyei Mensah, also expressed excitement about the collaboration, explaining that the company deliberately chose to support athletics in order to broaden corporate investment beyond football.

He said while football often attracts the bulk of sponsorship attention, other sports such as athletics also deserve meaningful backing due to their potential to deliver medals, inspire young people and build national pride.

“We saw that most corporate support goes into football, so we wanted to help break that pattern by supporting Ghana Athletics. We believe athletics has enormous potential, and with the right support, Ghana can achieve greater results on the continental and global stage,” he stated.

Mr Mensah further stressed the importance of grassroots development, noting that investment in young athletes today could produce future champions for the nation.

Drawing from his own background as a former student of St Augustine’s College, he added that he has always had a personal passion for athletics and school sports development.

Big Boost for Accra 2026 Preparations

The African Senior Athletics Championships is expected to attract top athletes, officials and supporters from across the continent, placing Ghana firmly in the international sporting spotlight.

Hosting the event is seen as a major opportunity for the country to showcase its organisational capacity, sporting infrastructure and rising athletic talent.

With Fenaam Industries Limited now on board, organisers will hope the championship delivers not only world-class competition but also a lasting legacy for athletics development in Ghana.
