Raphael Dwamena’s mortal remains arrives in Ghana
The mortal remains of former Black Stars striker Raphael Dwamena has arrived at the Kotoko International Airport on Friday evening.
The KF Egnatia forward collapsed during a league match between his side and Partizani on Saturday, November 11,2023.
Efforts by Doctors of the Kavaja Hospital in Albania was unsuccessful as the forward finally gave up.
Family,friends,teammates and representatives of the Ghana Football Association gathered at the Kotoka International Airport in a sorrowful mood.
Prayers were offered for the former Black Stars man as the family received his body in preparation for the final funeral rites in the coming days.
Dwamena made his international debut for the senior national team, Black Stars during the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.
In that game, he registered his name on the scoresheet twice to announce his presence as one of the leading strikers Ghana could ever count on.
The legacy of the Ghanaian was remembered during Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday as a minute silence was held in honour of him.
