Controversies hit Samuel Etoo’s camp over ceremonial tournament in Cameroon
A ceremonial tournament set to be organized by renowned football legend and President of the Cameroon Football Association, Samuel Etoo has raised lots of controversies in some parts of the country.
The tournament was expected to witness international football stars to promote relationships and football development in Cameroon on November 30,2023.
A separist group, called the Ambazonia Interim Government who were agitating for the independence of Southwest Cameroon had cautioned some footballers to boycott the tournament .
Two of Nigeria’s football legends, Jay Jay Okocha and Daniel Amokachi were among the few individuals who had been warned not to honour the invitation of the football President else they would sign their death warrant on another man’s land.
The caution was issued by one Comrade Chris Anon who was said to be the head of the Ambazonia Interim Government based in the United States of America.
According to him, the tournament, scheduled to take place in Victoria on Thursday 30th November,2023 was a mockery to the Ambazonian people.
He stated that it was questionable for the football legend to organize a tournament in a city that had been marred by war for over seven years for which several Ambazonians have been killed.
The group noted that there would be a tot lockdown on Victoria City on the said day for the competition.
