GPL: Second transfer window closes on Friday

The second transfer window of the 2022/23 season will be closed on Friday, 10 February, 2023 to end all movement of players from one club to the other.

The second window which was opened in the middle of January has seen club actively reinvigorating their squad to aid them achieve their motives of the season.

With this coming Friday set as the final day of transfer, clubs are expected to continue to be busy in the market hunting for players as final touches are made on attempted transfers.

Relegation threatened Kotoku Royals have been the most active side registering more than five players so far including former Asante Kotoko striker Francis Andy Kumi and Francis Okai of Windy Professionals.

Both Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak have not been rigorous in the market, though have made some few additions to their team.

Former Medeama SC midfielder Rashid Nortey and Brazilian Medeiras de Souza have all joined the Porcupine side in this transfer window while the Phobians have taken the opportunity to register some players in the team including Faisal Adam Billey who joined before the start of the season but was not registered due to certain reasons.

Aduana Stars who are currently leading the league table have also strengthened their attack with the addition of Richard Danso, formerly of WAFA and Hans Kwoffie, formerly of Medeama SC and Ashanti Gold SC.

Kumasi King Faisal are on a path to relieve themselves from a survival battle in top-flight football once again adding Benjamin Bature, formerly of Medeama SC to the team after Abednego Tetteh left to Bibiani Goldstars whereas Berekum Chelsea have taken their former captain Stephen Amankona from Asante Kotoko.

Talking of Goldstars, Appiah McCarthy of Ashanti Gold SC is reportedly joined the Bibiani side for the rest of the season after a long lay off with an ankle injury.

Having few days for the transfer window to be shut, almost all the eighteen Premier League clubs have added at least a player to their folds to either win the league or maintain a reasonable position on the league table.

The transfer window is for Premier League, Division One League and National Women’s League.
