After narrowly escaping relegation at the detailed end of last season due to their wishy-washy performance at home, the “North Prides” have rewashed their home performance to something refreshing to their bid to securing another slot in top-flight football next season.
After a slow start to the season, picking up a paltry points in their first two games at home, RTU have rose to dismantling opponents at their backyard making it a waterloo for opposing sides.
In their last six encounters at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, RTU have won all their games to cushion them properly on the league log heading towards the second round of the league which will be crucial in achieving the season’s target.
Winning at home has not only been something of a joy for the club but the manner at which they dispatch teams has been admirable looking at the “weight” and “clouts” of these teams.
Teams occupying the top six on the league log have all had their names found in the victim books of RTU in fashionable manner.
After scoring first through Georges Mfegue, RTU came from behind to steal the show against Asante Kotoko winning by 2-1 with goals coming from David Abagna Sandan and Issah Kuka.
Accra Lions were beaten equally by 3-1 before picking up the three points against league leaders Aduana Stars in a difficult encounter winning by 1-0.
Nsoatreman FC suffered similar fate losing by 2-0 via Dankwa Badu Stephen and Abdul Manaf Umar.
Baba Kushibo, Issah Kuka and Yusif Nuruddeen dealt with Kotoku Royals in a five goal thriller on Match Day 10 ending 3-2 for the homesters.
On Sunday evening, Accra Hearts of Oak could not escape the venomous attack of RTU who left it late on the 86th minutes to strike the winner through Hearts of Oak’s former player Abdul Manaf Umar.
The sterling performance of the club at home has pushed them up on the league table to 7th with 24 points having a smooth grounds to securing a respectable position for top-flight football next season.
